KUWAIT: On the occasion of the 50th Independence Day and 20th Liberation Day anniversaries and the fifth year of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah's assumption of power, Al Watan Daily took comments from some diplomats regarding this occasion.

Juma Al-Abbadi, Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Kuwait said, "I take this opportunity on behalf of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, His Majesty the King, government and people to congratulate His Highness the Amir, Crown Prince, Honored Al-Sabah Family and the noble Kuwaiti people."

Al-Abbadi expressed his gratitude to the generous initiative of the Amir to establish the fund of small and medium enterprises with a capital of two billion US dollars, where Jordan was honored to join and contribute to this fund. He also thanked Kuwait for the care and attention to the Jordanian community.

French ambassador to Kuwait Nada Yafi asserted that France will share with Kuwait its happiness as President Nicolas Sarkozy asserted in the message he sent to the Amir. She added, "France is committed to the safety of Kuwait and participated in the Liberation of Kuwait as a member of the Security council," describing Kuwait as friendly country and a key ally in which France has a defense and other civil treaties including the environment protection convection.

I wish all of you happiness, progress, peace and prosperity. This year is a great opportunity for us both to celebrate the uniquely close ties between the United Kingdom and Kuwait."

He added, "I am delighted that the U.K. will be represented by Sir John Major the British Prime Minister during the liberation. We are both small but influential countries in an important political and economic region," said the ambassador.

Wise guidance and leadership made Kuwait a strong and internationally most respected state and enabled the Kuwaiti people to utilize the fruits of these achievements for their own benefit. May the people of Kuwait continue to enjoy peace, prosperity and happiness in the years to come. Austria is proud to have ambassadors with Kuwait since 1973 and to be represented with an Embassy in Kuwait since 1979. Austria is happy to see her red-white-red flag flying among the flags of the nations that contributed to the liberation of Kuwait and to have been invited to join the festivities on Feb. 26."

Our relations are underpinned by our strong commercial ties and, more importantly, expanding people to people links.
